Athena Sosangelis Lorenzo, Managing Director, Private Capital Advisory (PCA), is based in Marathon Capital's New York office where she established and globally leads the firm’s PCA group. She works with management to enhance the firm’s position as a premier advisor in clean energy, sustainable technologies, and infrastructure markets. More specifically, PCA provides strategic advice on capital formation strategy and market positioning and raises capital for top-tier venture and private equity funds and select direct investment opportunities across renewable energy, sustainable technologies/cleantech, infrastructure, credit, and broader technologies.

Athena has over 20 years of experience as a senior fundraiser and broad experience in private markets, including structured credit, private debt, venture capital, growth equity, and infrastructure. She is also known for her work representing technology funds and companies seeking growth capital.

Athena was most recently a Partner at Capture Capital LLC, a boutique advisory firm where she originated and led multiple fund mandates ranging in size from $250MM to $2B+. Prior to Capture Capital, she was a senior private markets placement agent at Silver Leaf Partners, one of the largest independent placement firms in the US. She has also held several in-house marketing and investor relations positions and senior roles at Citigroup in the Corporate & Investment Bank and Asset Management in London and New York. Athena spent nearly a decade in Europe and ran several corporate finance and consulting mandates at PWC, primarily in Western Europe, Estonia, and Poland. She began her international career as a subcontractor and Director of a US Department of State, US Agency for International Development (AID) program in Warsaw.

Athena holds an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, with concentrations in Finance, Management, and Strategic Planning, and participated in an exchange program at the University of Oxford in the UK. She also holds dual undergraduate degrees from the University of Pennsylvania: a BA in Economics from the College of Arts & Sciences and a BS in Economics with a concentration in Finance from The Wharton School. She holds Series 7 and 63 licenses.
