Ayo Folaranmi, Vice President, is based in Marathon Capital’s Chicago office. He is responsible for executing M&A and capital raise engagements in the renewable power and cleantech sectors, conducting due diligence, and supporting Marathon Capital’s relationship management responsibilities.
Since joining Marathon Capital in 2022, Ayo has advised on a range of M&A and capital raising transactions across the renewable power, carbon capture and storage (CCS), and broader energy transition sectors. Select transactions include the sale of European Energy’s 350 MW solar project in ERCOT to Osaka Gas, the sale of Ecofin’s 64 MW distributed generation portfolio spanning six U.S. states to True Green Capital, and a tax equity transfer transaction for a 180 MW solar project in MISO.
Prior to Marathon Capital, Ayo worked as a Research Analyst and Geologist at IHS Markit (now S&P Global), where he performed technical and economic evaluations of North American upstream assets and authored published reports and insights. He previously worked at Ephraim Resources, leading due diligence on carbon capture and utilization assets in the Southern U.S.
Ayo received his MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He also holds an MS in Geology from Oklahoma State University and a BS in Geosciences from Midwestern State University. He holds Series 63 and 79 licenses.
