Chris Gonyer

Chris Gonyer, Director, is based in Marathon Capital’s San Francisco office. at Marathon Capital. He supports the firm’s cleantech practice of originating and executing M&A and private capital raising transactions, with a particular focus on air & environment, applied industrial tech, sustainable materials, and other enabling climate technologies.

Prior to joining Marathon Capital, Chris was an Executive Director at Nomura Greentech. He was responsible for originating and executing M&A and private capital-raising transactions. He has worked across a wide range of products and sectors within the sustainable technology and infrastructure value chain with clients ranging from large-scale infrastructure funds to growth-stage technology platforms. Some of his notable sell-side transactions include the sale of MIRATECH Corporation to BP Energy Partners, the sale of Inspire Clean Energy to Shell New Energies, the sale of Lime Energy to Willdan Group, and the sale of Layne Christensen to Granite Construction. On the buy side, he has worked with Macquarie Asset Management on the acquisitions of DTG Recycle, Wheelabrator Technologies, and Tunnel Hill Partners, as well as with Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners on its acquisition of Seven Seas Water from Aquaventure.

Prior to Greentech, Chris worked at GCA Advisors as an Associate and then Vice President, executing M&A and private capital raising assignments across diverse technology segments, with a particular focus on industrial end markets. He previously worked in New York as an Associate within the investment banking division of Credit Suisse Securities and as an Analyst in the M&A group within Brown Brothers Harriman & Co.

Chris received a BA in Mathematics from the University of Virginia and an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business. He holds Series 63 and 79 licenses.
