Greg Andiorio

Greg Andiorio, Director, Tax & Structuring, is based in Marathon Capital’s Chicago office. He is responsible for advising on tax credit transactions across all energy transition technologies, including wind, solar, carbon capture, energy storage, and hydrogen.


Greg’s noteworthy transactions at Marathon Capital include advising Nestle on its utility-scale solar tax equity investment plus REC purchase transactions, placement of the tax equity financing for Competitive Power Ventures’ Maple Hill solar project, placement of the tax equity financing for three of Nautilus Solar Energy’s community solar portfolios, placement of the tax equity financing for three of Invenergy’s utility-scale solar projects, placement of the tax equity financing for TransAlta’s Big Level and Antrim wind projects, and placement of the tax equity financing for two of Innogy’s US wind projects. Greg is also heavily focused on carbon capture projects and has advised sponsors of projects that are capturing CO2 emissions from ethanol plants, natural gas power plants, coal plants or other industrial sources and permanently storing CO2 via geological sequestration or enhanced oil recovery on monetization of Section 45Q tax credits.

Before joining Marathon Capital, Greg was a Senior Manager in the Mergers and Acquisitions – Tax practice at KPMG, leading tax structuring, modeling, and due diligence engagements and advising energy clients on tax issues associated with bankruptcy restructurings. Notable bankruptcy work includes tax advisory for the unregulated subsidiary of one of the largest utilities in the U.S.

Greg received a BS in Accountancy and an MS in Accountancy with a concentration in Taxation from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He holds 63 and 79 licenses.
