Julian Trobe, Director, is based in Marathon Capital’s New York office. He is responsible for originating and executing M&A, capital raise, and structured/project finance engagements in the clean energy, sustainable technology, and infrastructure markets, with a focus on the nuclear and solar subsectors. His recent transaction experience includes advising Ecofin U.S. Renewables (RNEW) on the sale of its distributed generation portfolio to True Green Capital.
Julian has over 14 years of investment banking experience advising clients on M&A, corporate finance, IPOs, spin-offs, and corporate strategy. Prior to joining Marathon Capital, Julian was an Investment Banking Associate in the Global Natural Resources group at Goldman Sachs. There, he covered the renewables and power/utility sectors, executing transactions such as SunPower’s spin-off of Maxeon Solar Technologies and the $500 million green bond offering for Goldman Sachs Renewable Power (n/k/a MN8 Energy).
Julian graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of California, Berkeley, with a BA in Economics and Chinese. He holds an MBA from the University of California, Los Angeles Anderson School of Management. He is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and holds Series 63 and 79 licenses.
