Mark McDonald

Investment Banking

Mark McDonald, Director, is based in Marathon Capital’s San Francisco office. He is responsible for originating and executing M&A and equity capital raise engagements in the clean energy, sustainable technologies, and infrastructure markets, focusing on grid technology, electrified transportation, and renewables.

Mark has advised on many transformative transactions such WattEV’s capital raise led by Apollo and Vitol, EV Connect’s sale to Schneider Electric, John Hancock’s $400M investment in Silicon Ranch, the sale of BayWa’s utility-scale solar, and storage projects in ERCOT, and LS Power’s acquisition of Evgo.

Prior to Marathon Capital, Mark was at Invenergy, where he focused on M&A and corporate finance, including an equity raise for a 160 MW solar project in Georgia, a corporate debt facility for Volta Charging, sale of four wind farms totaling 201 MW in Quebec, structured a joint venture to repower two 150 MW Texas wind farms, sale of a 70 MW wind farm in Scotland, and a preferred equity raise to finance a 1,485 MW natural gas-fired plant in PJM. Prior to Invenergy, Mark spent two years at Robert W. Baird, a leading middle-market investment bank, and four years at GE Energy, advising clients on power system design and renewable energy integration challenges.

Mark earned a BS in Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. Mark holds Series 63 and 79 licenses.
