Matt Bigham, Managing Director & Co-Head of Offtake Advisory, is based in Marathon Capital's Chicago office. He advises clients on offtake procurement, M&A, debt, equity, tax equity capital raise transactions, and strategic consulting engagements in the renewable energy and power sectors.
Since joining Marathon Capital in 2016, Matt has closed a variety of notable transactions, including the acquisition of the 500 MW Aktina solar plant by Tokyo Gas, RWE’s equity raise for its 861 MW operating wind portfolio, the sale of Alterra Power to Innergex, MEAG’s acquisition of an equity interest in Starwood’s 460 MW wind portfolio, Fiera Infrastructure’s acquisition of an equity interest in DESRI’s 921 MW solar and wind portfolio, IGS’s partnership with ORIX for the buildout of a 200 MW pipeline of C&I solar and Coronal’s tax equity financing for its 120 MW solar portfolio.
Before joining Marathon Capital, Matt was VP of Finance at Lincoln Clean Energy, focusing on corporate finance, project finance, and M&A. His projects include the construction financing and asset management of the 10 MW Oak solar plant, the sale of the 30 MW Lone Valley solar project, 200 MW Hereford wind project, 300 MW Jumbo Road wind project, 230 MW Horse Creek wind project, and the 230 MW Electra wind project. He was also responsible for Lincoln’s joint venture with Samsung C&T, and the sale of Lincoln to I Squared Capital. Prior to Lincoln, he spent seven years at Inland Private Capital Corporation, leading the acquisition and financing of over $1 billion in commercial real estate investments.
Matt holds a BA in Economics from the University of Illinois and an MBA from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He holds a Series 79 license.
