Ted Brandt has been Founder & Chief Executive Officer of Marathon Capital since its founding in 1999. Marathon Capital is an independent investment bank focused on serving clients across the global sustainable technology, clean power, and infrastructure sectors. He is responsible for managing the firm’s global operations, key strategic decisions, and overseeing the firm’s various transaction teams, which have completed more than three hundred clean energy-related transactions since Marathon Capital's inception.
From July 1984 to May 1999, before Marathon Capital's founding, Ted worked for several prominent non-bank finance and leasing companies including GE Capital, Signal Capital, Dana Commercial Credit, Prime Capital, and Transamerica during which he was promoted from his initial entry-level sales and origination positions into senior sales management and then finally general management positions for the last several years. In the later positions, he was responsible for building several prominent organizations, originating, structuring, and implementing several major Vendor financing programs for prominent manufacturers, and structuring several successful lease securitizations.
Ted received a BA in Economics in 1984 from Oberlin College and an MBA in 1987 from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He serves on the Board of the American Clean Power Association, the Advisory Council for Becker Friedman Institute, and the EPIC Advisory Board. He was a Trustee for Oberlin College from 2016-2022. He holds his Series 7, 79, 24, 99 and 63 licenses.
