Yang Xu, Vice President, is based in Marathon Capital’s Chicago office. He is responsible for executing M&A and capital raise engagements in the renewable energy and power sectors, conducting due diligence, and supporting Marathon Capital’s relationship management responsibilities.
Since joining Marathon Capital in 2022, Yang has advised on a range of capital raising and M&A transactions across the renewable energy, power, and broader energy transition space. Selected transactions include debt raising and PTC sale for a 306 MW utility-scale solar project in ERCOT developed by Ashtrom Group, the sale and tax equity raise for a 174 MW BESS project near Houston to Tokyo Gas America, and debt and tax equity raising for a 300 MW utility-scale solar project developed by Earthrise Energy in MISO.
Prior to Marathon Capital, Yang was an Investment Associate at China Great Wall Asset Management Corp. He was in charge of conducting due diligence, preparing financial model, and doing post-investment management for equity investment and distressed asset restructuring projects.
Yang received an MBA with distinction from Cornell University and a BS from Jilin University. He is a CFA charter holder and holds Series 63 and 73 licenses.
