Distributed Energy
Mergers and Acquisitions
Marathon Capital has advised Generate Capital, PBC (“Generate”), a specialized, multi-strategy investment platform, on the sale of a 117-project operating distributed solar portfolio to GoodFinch, a leading asset management company focused on the intersection of capital markets and the ongoing evolution of energy markets.
The portfolio spans nine U.S. states and territories and includes a diverse mix of rooftop and ground-mounted solar systems, many of which serve municipal, university, school, hospital, and commercial customers.
By providing reliable, carbon-free power, the projects support local economies, reduce energy costs and contribute to each customer’s long-term energy offtake goals.
“This transaction reflects the growing maturity of distributed solar as an asset class. We’re proud to have developed and operated these projects to serve their local communities, and it’s exciting to see them positioned for continued success under new ownership.” says Jason Cho, Principal, Capital Markets at Generate Capital.
“It was a pleasure to support Generate on the sale of its distributed solar portfolio to GoodFinch. We are proud of our expertise in distributed generation and our contribution to Generate's successful process. Marathon Capital has a long-running relationship with Generate; we admire their commitment to advancing the energy transition and look forward to continuing our collective work towards driving a more sustainable future.” – David Kirkpatrick, Global Co-Head of Investment Banking, Marathon Capital
Marathon Capital served as Generate’s exclusive financial advisor.
