Marathon Capital has advised Pacifico Energy LLC (f/k/a Pacifico Power LLC) on the sale of its co-located solar and storage portfolio, totaling 27 MWDC Solar PV and 25 MWh BESS, to CleanCapital. Pacifico Energy LLC is a subsidiary of the Pacifico Energy Group, (together “Pacifico”) a privately held, development and investment company specializing in energy generation and storage projects. The transaction marks Pacifico’s first monetization of a portfolio of in-house developed projects in the United States.

Marathon Capital acted as Pacifico’s exclusive financial advisor, providing financial modeling, structuring, due diligence, and negotiation support across the six-project portfolio. The four California projects are behind-the-meter, while the two Massachusetts projects are community solar.

“This transaction further validates the Pacifico Energy Group’s pivot into the U.S. market – with a specific focus on behind-the-meter projects. We saw the need for scalable behind-the-meter solutions many years ago. It’s not just data centers that are having a hard time procuring utility power. This particular portfolio is providing distributed energy to low-income communities, a materials manufacturer, and a beverage processing facility. We’re thrilled to have placed the first U.S. portfolio with a great long-term investor.” – Leon Persaud, Managing Director, Pacifico Energy Group

“It was a pleasure to collaborate with the Pacifico team and support them on their inaugural M&A transaction in the United States. The operational status of the projects, coupled with their de-risked nature, presented an attractive acquisition opportunity for CleanCapital. We look forward to seeing both organizations continue to grow and strengthen their presence across U.S. markets.” – Sarah Nash, Managing Director, Marathon Capital

Marathon Capital had previously advised SCOA, the portfolio’s tax equity investor, on their investment in these projects.

A global financial and strategic advisor focused solely on the clean economy and the energy transition.
